Search & Social: To be Heard You Need to be Found

      Session Detail:

If developing a website is a science then gaining visibility in search engines and social media is an art form.  Yet the opportunity is a blank canvas and a little knowledge can produce a master piece.

Lee will explain some of the very basic principles that you can use to outrank your competitors, what is Search Engine Optimisation? How you can take advantage of Search and the small changes that can make a dramatic difference to your websites performance?  How is social media playing an ever increasing role in Search Engine Rankings and what simple techniques should you keep in mind when conducting your social media strategy which doesn’t ignore your Search strategy?   There is no search without social and no social without search!!

You don’t have to be a large corporate to make a difference, small companies can punch way above their weight and gain visibility beyond their wildest dreams.  Adversely big brands need to stay nimble and keep ahead of the game in what is becoming a more aggressive online market in the Middle East.  Yet real SEO in this region is a blank canvas, still, and there are a lot of opportunities available for those brands that take advantage of the medium.

It really isn’t rocket science, but you do need to be scientific about Search.

Speaker: Lee Mancini, Manager, Sekari, Dubai, UAE

      14.30 - 15.30

Business Tourism - the Majilis of the 21st Century” ®

      Arabic Session

Business Tourism in the Arabian World is the 21st century version of the Majilis and offers great chances to add the local touch to otherwise “business-as-usual” events.

The process of re-inventing the Majilis-culture in the context of Business Tourism, will be explained as a way to protect, promote and develop this authentic meeting-format and make it at the same time compatible with international trends.

The participants will get an overview of business tourism services and gain a better understanding of the chances and potential business opportunities that innovative and sustainable business tourism can add to a destination and how international organisers can benefit from the opportunities of a region with year-around sunshine, endless desert, an almost crime-free country and a service and hospitality industry that is ready and able to please even the most demanding guest.

During the seminar it will be highlighted how Business tourism with its larger profit-margin than FIT-tourism and its endless opportunities for creative and unique events is the perfect platform to market and promote Arabia and its longstanding tradition as a main business hub of the 21st century.

The biggest opportunity in the region is the linking of Business Tourism with Arabic traditions and culture. The presenter will take the participants of the Seminar on a journey back in time. Arabic traders and scientists were some of the most legendary travellers already hundreds of years ago. In the past people did not travel merely for fun, they travelled for a reason. People would not sit together and meet just to pass time – men met to talk business and exchange ideas.

These things have happened for centuries and Arabs were even pioneers as explorers. Duration of trips and means of transportation might have been different in the 15th Century than now, in the 21st century, but principles and goals are almost the same.

The only things that are new are the names; though it’s now called “Business Travel” or “MICE” it is not at all a strange and new concept for the region.

This seminar will inspire the participants to become aware of the regional traditions and use them to their benefit and for regional branding.

      Future Meetings Presentations

It costs a lot of money to organize a conference. Not just the cost of a venue, the cost of entertainment, and the cost of travel. The opportunity cost of having an audience in the room, and not somewhere else. It matters if a conference is successful. It's surprising that every detail of a conference is planned, except for the presentations.

Menus are planned, rooms are planned, bands are booked, printing is done – everything runs smoothly. But the typical conference presentation has no input from organizers – even at a company conference. Sure, there may be a conference PowerPoint template to use.

But each presenter types his or her own presentation. Each presentation is full of bullet points and text – boring to write, let alone to sit through. Dozens of presentations, 100s of slides, 1000s of bullet points. Mind- numbing for the audience. Yet, surely the presentations are the reason for having the conference? Imagine a conference where messages are considered as a whole. Imagine a conference that genuinely meets its objectives.

The "Future Meeting" session is all about effective presentations. We will teach you how to turn bullet points into visuals. We will teach you how to train lacklustre presenters and make them stars. We will teach you how to turn isolated presentations into a rich tapestry of ideas and cross-references.

We will teach you how to make your conference interactive using the latest audience response systems to engage the delegates and improve memory retention of your message. We promise your next audience will thank you.

Speaker: John Quinn, 'Presentologist', Satellite Visual Communication, Dubai, UAE
